As a Gradient Leader, there are three things to know about assignment sharing that can help to better serve your staff.

1. Any assignment author can share an assignment with any staff at their associated school. This includes co-teachers synced via Clever/ClassLink or added manually. Authors may choose the sharing permissions (View, Administer, Edit/Share) that best determine how much access to provide their colleagues for the assignment.
2. Any Gradient Leader with membership to the Instructional Leader Access Group may see all assignments created at their associated school by using School Reporting Mode.  This prevents the need to request a teacher to share individual assignments.  
3. This article provides sharing scenarios and tips that might apply to staff members without rostered classes (exam proctors, substitutes, and support staff).

Assignment Sharing Overview

Once an assignment has been created, there are two ways to access sharing permissions - Share an Individual Assignment or Share Multiple Assignments at once. 

Share an Individual Assignment

1. From the home page, click on the Assignments icon from the left sidebar menu or choose the View Assignments tile.
2. Click on the desired assignment name from the assignment list.
3. The Share Assignment option can be found within the drop-down menu next to the Assignment name in the upper left.
4. Enter a staff name or Teacher Group in the Share With search field. You may enter multiple names and share at the same time.
5. Select the applicable sharing permission. View: Grants the ability to view assignment data for the students assigned to the user. If the recipient is part of a PLC Group, the data they can view is anonymized. Administer: Grants the ability to administer the assignment for students assigned to the user. Edit/Share: Grants the ability to Edit and Share the assignment (formerly referenced as Joint Owner).
6. Click the blue Set Shares button.

Share Multiple Assignments at Once

1. From the home page, click on the Assignments icon from the left sidebar menu or choose the View Assignments tile.
2. From the Assignments page, click the checkbox to the left of one or multiple assignments at once.  Once the boxes are checked, you'll see the Share icon appear in the toolbar in the upper right. Click Share.  NOTE: The Share icon will not appear in the toolbar if you are trying to share assignments owned by other staff members. Unless you have Edit/Share permissions to an assignment, you can only share your own assignments.
3. The Assignment Sharing modal will appear. Enter a staff name or Teacher Group in the Share With search field. You may enter multiple names or Teacher Groups and share at the same time. NOTE: When applying sharing permissions to multiple assignments at once, it will override any existing sharing permissions that may exist for those assignments.
4. Select the applicable sharing permission. View: Grants the ability to view assignment data for the students assigned to the user. If the recipient is part of a PLC Group, student data is anonymized. Administer: Grants the ability to administer the assignment for students assigned to the user. Edit/Share: Grants the ability to Edit and Share the assignment (formerly referenced as Joint Owner).
5. Click the blue Set Shares button.

Teacher Groups 

Teacher Groups are mainly used as a shortcut for a PLC, a department, or teams of teachers working across schools. The group creates a faster way of sharing an assignment instead of typing each staff member name individually and choosing the sharing permissions.

Teacher Groups allow all teachers within the group access to administer shared assignments to any of their classes. Sharing permissions (View, Administer, Edit/Share) are set for the whole group at the time the assignment is shared.  To learn more about Teacher Group setup and assignment sharing, see the following related Help Center articles:

Building administrators, instructional coaches, or coordinators will need Instructional Leader access to create Teacher Groups. Connect with your Gradient Leader.

 

 

PLC Groups

NEW PLC Groups are now available in Gradient! By default, all Gradient system admins have access to create and manage PLC Groups within Admin Mode.  No additional permissions are needed. Simply add classes to the PLC Group to allow members to view anonymized student data from shared assignments.  Collaboration has never been easier in achieving results for the students you serve.

Class Groups

Class Groups are now available in Teacher Mode on the Classes page to all users with the Student Visibility Permission enabled.  Class Groups allow users a way to easily organize classes for the purpose of printing forms, scanning students' responses, and setting up online access.

TIP: Prior to making a Class Group, verify that using co-teachers is not available as a better option.
