3c. Import Students from a CSV File to a Class in GradeCam Insight

Julie Brown -

Import students to a GradeCam class list from a CSV file that has been exported from another program.

1. Open the application containing the class information and export the list in CSV format.

Note: The class list must have at least the first name, last name and ID number of each student.

2. Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet application (i.e. Microsoft Excel). If the application exported the list with the first and last names in the same column, separate the names into two separate columns and resave the file.

3. Log into your GradeCam account and click on the Classes tab.

4. Select the class for which you want to add students.

5. Click on the "Import Students" button.

6. Click on the "Choose File" button.

7. Select the CSV file from your computer (1) and click on the "Open" (2) button.

8. Click on the "Import" button.

9. Choose the Delimiter Method (1) and the Header Row (2) from the drop-down menus and then click on the "Next" (3) button.

Delimiter Method - How are the pieces of information about a student are separated (i.e. commas or tab)? (This example uses commas)

Header Row - Which row contains the name of the information in each column? (This example is Row 1)

10. Make sure the fields are aligned to the column headers in the drop-down menus (1) and then click on the "Next" button (2).

Note: The Student ID and Gradecam ID can be the same number. If the Student ID assigned by the school district is too long, you can use the last 4 or 5 digits if you wish to truncate it.

11. Confirm everything looks good and click on the "Submit" button.
