3. Set the name ordering to match your electronic gradebook.

Note: This will change the order that your students appear in GradeCam Insight, but it is necessary since it's how you match the scores from GradeCam Insight to your electronic gradebook.

4. (Optional) Choose whether or not you want to change the designated HotKey from the default setting of F8 by choosing another option from the HotKey drop-down menu.

Note: You might need to experiment to see which HotKeys are not in use.

Mac Users: On some Mac keyboards you need to press the "fn" key while pressing the HotKey.

5. (Optional) If your gradebook requires you to press "Tab" instead of "Enter" when switching students while inputting new scores, then you would need to change the "Return Key" setting.

6. Click on the "Done" button.

7. Create and scan an assignment so all grades are displayed on the Scan screen.

Note: The Scan screen must be open in order to transfer scores.

8. Open your electronic gradebook and create a new assignment as if you are going to manually input new scores.

9. Click in the top cell of the newly created assignment as if you are going to type in a score.

10. Press your GradeCam HotKey (default is F8). As soon as you press your GradeCam HotKey the scores will be entered into your gradebook.

I went into setup and there was a message on the left side saying that the gradebook tab had moved into the top right corner.  However, there is no tab there.  Please help.

I left a comment on another section, but I am really trying to get an answer for this.  My computer at school will transfer grades from GradeCam to PowerTeacher without any problem whatsoever.  When I am at home, I do the exact same steps, but nothing happens at all when I hit the F8 key.  I have tried changing the hotkey and tried with Chrome and IE9.  I don't have active X enabled.  Help me, please!!!!

    Hi Jason,

On some computers the F keys won't work unless you press an FN key in the bottom left of the keyboard.  You might also check your computer settings.  It sounds like the function keys are disabled on your computer.  Please let us know i this resolves it for you.

    Thanks,

    Rich

All of my F keys work with everything else, so they are not disabled.  You mentioned to press a FN key in the bottom left.  I think that is on Mac computers.  I am running Windows 7.  I am really frustrated, just because I want to show the feature off to my wife.  I would like to be able to transfer grades quickly at home from Gradecam, so I would like to fix this issue.

Anyone have an answer to this problem.  I can get the F8 key to work on my work computer, but it won't work on my home computer.  All of my function keys work on my home computer for all other things.  Not that I use it much at home, but it just bugs me that it doesn't work...

Hi Jason,  you could try changing your hot key to something else.  It sounds like the F keys aren't working as function keys, ie. if your on a laptop and the F keys are also your screen brightness and play etc, then they aren't set as Function keys.

If on a Mac, go to the keyboard setup and select "Use Alll keys as standard function keys."

If none of this works, try emailing support@gradecam.com and Julie will figure out whats going on.

    Hope this helps,

    Rich

I am hoping someone can help me with a particularly troubling issue I've been having dealing with the transferring of grades from the gradecam program to my gradebook. All of my function keys do what they are supposed to when I click on them, but they fail to transfer the grades over to an excel document, numbers document, or even the grade book my school is using. The hotkey worked for me all last year, and it even worked just perfectly on my mac less then a week ago. Yet just recently it has seemed to stop functioning all together. I've tried everything that I can think of; reassigning the HotKey to every one of the possible choices. I've tried switching computers to make this work on my PC or my Mac, and still nothing. I have even tried working to see if the browser is the culprit switching between Chrome, IE, & Safari, all with no success. I'm now at a complete loss of what to do. Please Help.

    Hi Justin,
Open up an Excel spreadsheet to see if the grades will transfer into there. Is this a school computer? Would the permissions have changed over the summer? We have not had any teachers in the last week sharing that it isn't transferring. Please let me know what your account email is, and I will check to see if I am able to transfer grades from your account.

    Hey Donna,

It is very possible that my school changed some permissions on their laptop, which may be causing the issue with the laptop failing to transfer grades, but even my home computer, a mac, is failing to transfer over grades to the gradebook or numbers (mac version of excel). I also made sure that on my mac that the function keys were activated, and still no transfer. My account e-mail is betzjj@fusd.net

    Thanks,
    Justin

Are you using your fn key along with the F8 key? I would be happy to do a quick webinar with you this week.

    Hey Donna,

Yes, I have tried to use the function key (Fn) on my PC and the Command Key on my Mac. I've also tried every combination of keys I can think of with the F keys to try to make this work; Shift+F Key, Alt + F key, Ctrl + F key, etc. The only thing that has happened when I've done that, is the cursor disappears from the where it should be entering transferring grades. I get no sounds, or inputs, just the disappearance of the cursor.

Do you have the fn key on your MAC? You would not use the Command key on the MAC but the fn key. Let's set up a webinar to see what is happening - you have the scan window open with trying to transfer the grades - you are not minimizing the scan window, correct?

    I am available tomorrow,

Yes, I have tried the fn key + F8, and it still does not transfer. The scan window is always open when I transfer scores from gradecam. I am available for a webinar tomorrow, but if it is during the school day I will only have access to my school PC.
I am available during school hours from 11-12, and in the evening after 6:30. What time works best for you?

    Thanks,
    Justin

    Hi Donna,

I'm having the same problem as Justin. I've been following the tutorials and your suggested solutions, but I can't get the grades to transfer by using f8 (or any other hotkey I change it to). I've also tried on my school PC, and my Mac. I've tried on different browsers, and I've tried using excel, word, and my school's gradebook, but nothing seems to transfer. Could you post a solution on this site if you figure out the problem with Justin.

    Thanks,
    Josh

    Justin and Joshua,
All should be corrected now. It wasn't you both - it was a little glitch happening on our end. Please try again and let me know if it is working now for you.

    Thank you,

I have the same issue from time to time and am currently experiencing it. Also this does not seem to work at all with Chrome? I currently am trying to input grades with IE and have done all the tricks, restarted, switched (working) hot keys and nothing is working.

Hello , when I transfer grades from Grade Cam to my online grade book , the grades are not transferring properly. Students are receiving the wrong grades. Also , the transfer is often incomplete. Please help.

    Hi Heriberto,
You may have to change your gradebook settings to Tab or Tab down or Arrow down. Make sure you have the roster chosen - Last name/First name.

Donna, I am having the same HotKey issue as Justin Betz. No grade transfer via Hotkey. I have tried everything. In fact, it worked on another computer, just not my laptop. I will try at home tonight.
    Thanks, Dave.

    Hi Donna,
I do tech support for my school and have had several teachers this fall experiencing this failure to transfer grades to our gradebook (eSembler). What makes it hard to diagnose is that it works sometimes but very rarely. So, if it works at all, it seems that the settings are right. (right?) They have tried all the tricks listed in these posts but it is just not working as well as it did last year. I would schedule a webinar with you but I'm afraid it would decide to work. :)
Our most experience GradeCam user believes that it is our network. The site is whitelisted so I'm not sure what else we can do.

    Hi Bobbi,
We have updated our plugin: downloads.gradecam.com/?v=beta so I don't know if this would help. Is plugin.gradecam.com unblocked by the network? We do have other schools that have this same issue do to the network, time of day because of the amount of users on the network so they have to transfer in the off hours or at home where there are no issues. Have any teachers tried this at home? Is it a specific time when it is spotty? Another variable is also the eSembler server - again, time of day and amount of users on the site.

Is this a new gradebook system or did you have eSembler last year as well?

We are using version 1.9.1.7 because we include the plugin on the standard image that we copy to our computers. Teachers do not have the ability to download an EXE version of the plugin and if I were to download it to their computer, it would only work if I was logged in. It must be an MSI version of the plugin.
I have only spoken to two teachers that have tried it at home, it worked for one and not for the other. I have suggested doing it in off-hours but haven't seen much difference in the success.
We did use it last year and had much fewer problems but did not have as many teachers using it.
