THINGS TO KNOW

STUDENT IDs

  • Can I create my own Student IDs or do they have to come from my grade book or student information system?

      • Yes, you can create your own Student IDs.
  • Can a Student ID be alphanumeric?

      • Yes, but you will need to use the GradeCam ID as the primary ID on forms.  GradeCam will drop the letters from the Student ID to create the GradeCam ID.
  • Does the Student ID have to be unique?
      • Yes.  Each student must have a unique alphanumeric identifier.
  • Can I reuse a Student ID that I have used before?

      • No. Students need to have a unique ID.  
  • How do I add students to a class?

        1. From the HOME screen, tap the Classes Tab.
        2. Tap the Class that needs students added.
        3. Tap the blue NEW button and choose Create New Student
        4. Enter Student ID, First Name, and Last Name then Save.

MANAGE CLASSES/STUDENTS 

  • How many classes can I have?

      • If you are syncing with Google Classroom or Clever, you are able to sync as many classes as needed.  If you are manually adding or importing classes, you will be limited to 10.
  • How do I sync classes with Google Classroom?

      • If you have classes in Google Classroom, GradeCam will prompt you on your initial login to connect and sync classes.  By connecting Google Classroom to GradeCam, classes will sync every time on login.
  • How do I sync classes from Clever?

      • If you have a Clever account and have classes in Clever, GradeCam will prompt you on your initial login to connect and sync classes.  By connecting Clever to GradeCam, classes will sync every time on login.
  • How do I edit existing classes? 

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Classes Tab.
      2. Only manually added classes can be edited in GradeCam.
      3. Place a check mark in the box next to the class that needs to be edited.

  • How do I manually add a class?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Classes Tab.  
      2. Tap the blue New button and add your class name and period. the Edit button from the Toolbar. 
      3. Make your edits to the class or period and Save.

**If you are syncing classes from Google Classroom or Clever, you will need to edit the classes within either of those respective applications.  Logging into GradeCam will sync the edited classes.

  • Do I really need classes?

      • Yes, it is important to collect data on individual students to reflect and understand misconceptions.  Classes help to segment data for students.  For example, a self-contained teacher would want to include a separate class for each subject, (ie Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies) to track the students’ performance in each content area.  
  • How do I add students to a class?

    • From the HOME screen, tap the Classes Tab.
      1. Tap the Class that needs students added.
      2. Tap the blue NEW button and choose Create New Student.

      3. Enter Student ID, First Name, and Last Name then Save.
  • What fields do I need when adding students?

      • First Name, Last Name, Student ID
  • How do I edit a student?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Students Tab.
      2. Place a checkmark in the box next to the student that needs to be edited.

      4. Make your edits to the class or period and Save.

  • Can I delete a student?

      • No.  Students can not be deleted but they can be removed from the class.

  • Can I put a student in more than one class?

      • Yes, students can be in one or more classes. 

TROUBLESHOOTING: CAMERA 

  • My camera is not working?  What should I do?

      • Have you allowed GradeCam to access your camera on your mobile device?
  • Are there other settings I should know about with my camera?

      1. Yes.  GradeCam has several setting options when using your mobile camera.
      2. From the HOME screen, tap your name in the upper right-hand corner to access the menu.
      3. Tap Settings → Camera
      4. Toggle on or off various functions as needed.

  • Is my GradeCam app updated to the most recent version?

      • Visit Google Play or App Store and make sure the mobile app is up to date.
  • My camera is still not working after I have followed all the troubleshooting steps.

      • Uninstall and reinstall the GradeCam app.

ASSIGNMENTS/SCANNING

  • How do I create a new assignment?

    • From the HOME screen, tap the blue New button.

      1. Tap your assignment choice.
      2. Enter the assignment name and number of questions.
      3. Tap Save.
  • How do I edit an assignment?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Assignments tab.
      2. Place a checkmark in the box next to the assignment that will be edited.

  • How do I delete assignments?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Assignments tab.
      2. Place a checkmark in the box next to the assignment that will be deleted.

      3. Tap the More ellipsis (three dots).
      4. Tap Trash to remove the assignment.

  • Am I limited to the number of scans?

      • Scans are not limited.
  • Am I limited to the number of questions on my assignment?

      • Yes.  This will depend on your Mobile plan.  
      • Mobile Lite is limited to 10 questions per assignment.
      • Mobile Plus is limited to 50 questions per assignment.
  • How do I edit a student’s answers?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Assignments tab.
      2. Tap the assignment you want to manually add or change answers.
      3. Tap the Scans tab.
      4. Place a checkmark in the box next to the student you need to edit their answers.
      5. Tap Edit on the toolbar.
  • How is a rubric scored?

      • You will enter the score for each student or by the individual question. 
        1. From the HOME screen, tap the assignment you want to score.
        2. For each student, tap the first student and enter the score, then tap Next.
        3. By Question, tap By Question in the Menu Bar, then tap the question. This will display all students for that question. Enter the scores.
  • Can I assign partial credit to an answer?

REPORTS 

  • How do I get to my reports?

      • From the HOME screen, tap the Reports tab.
  • What reports do I have access to?

      1. This will depend on your Mobile plan.
      2. From the Reports Tab, tap Views to access various reports.
  • Can I export or download the reports?

KEYS/FORMS

  • How do I print a student form?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Assignments tab.
      2. Tap the assignment you need to print.
      3. Tap the paper icon in the upper right corner.

      4. Determine your form layout,  Generate, and Download as a PDF.
      5. Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen to share with a printer.
  • How do I enter my answer key?

      1. From the Answer Key, tap the bubble/s of the correct answer.
  • How do I scan a form?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Assignments tab.
      2. Tap the assignment you need to scan students’ forms into.
      3. Enter an answer Key by tapping the corresponding bubbles.
      4. Tap the Scans tab.

      6. Position your mobile camera above the form which you need to scan making sure the “black box” is inside the camera window.

  • How do I upgrade to a Mobile Plus account? 

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Menu arrow in the upper right corner.
      2. From the menu tap Settings.

  • How do I upgrade to the Individual Gradient Teacher license?

      1. From the HOME screen, tap the Menu arrow in the upper right corner.
      2. From the menu tap Settings.
      3. Tap Account Profile and make your upgrade selection.
      4. View the Gradient plan options.
  • How can I log into my GradeCam account on my computer?

      • GradeCam mobile Lite/Plus is only available on a mobile device. Gradient is our premium product that includes both mobile and desktop access on any computer.  
  • Why upgrade to GradeCam Gradient? 

      1. Access to the Student Assessment Portal for remote instruction.
      2. Transferring grades to a grade book with one click.
      3. Desktop access to GradeCam.
      4. Additional question selections .
      5. Extended length of tests.
      6. Advanced reporting.
  • Where do I download the app?

      1. Apple App store
      2. Google Play store
  • Will I lose student data if I upgrade/downgrade?

      • No.  You will not lose student data. If downgrading, you will lose access to features.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • How many number grids do I have access to vs Mobile Lite / Plus?

      1. Mobile Lite includes 1 Basic number grid per assignment.
      2. Mobile Plus has unlimited Basic number grids per assignment.
  • How long am I logged into GradeCam?

      • Users will be logged out after 30 minutes without activity.
  • Can I be logged into two devices at the same time?

      • No.  Only one device at a time.
  • What are the green and yellow lines in my scan window?

      1. Yellow lines indicate GradeCam is looking for the black box around the form to scan.
      2. Green lines indicate GradeCam has found the black box and scanned successfully.
