Reports for multiple version exams (same questions)

I sometimes use different versions of the same exam with the questions in a different order to discourage cheating. So version 1 and version 2 of the test have the same questions used, but question 1 on version A is the same as question 12 on version B. It would be nice to be able to put in that question 1 ver-A is the same as question 12 on ver-B. That way you could still do item analysis on the questions.

Hi Scott,

We've considered doing something like this.  It would be nice.  If we're to do it though, we'll probably just create a way that any question could be mapped to any other question, meaning all questions can be mapped to all other questions on a different version of the exam.  That get's complicated when you get up to 100 questions.  One of the factors preventing us from doing it is the complication that would be involved in that from a user experience.  We'll discuss and if a lot of people request this feature, we'll certainly consider making it happen.

Thanks,

Rich

I would love to have the feature as well.  Many teachers choose not to have multiple versions of a test because of the confusion they can create in a classroom.  If you all figured out how to offer this feature it would enormously popular among teachers as a tool for helping prevent copying answers.

May I suggest an alternate solution than the complex one above.  Instead of changing the order of the questions and mapping one question to another, you could change the correct answer for each question.  This would simply the programming logic to one mapping problem that is simply repeated for each question.  I can't imagine what the user interface would be like to map each wrong and right response to the same one on a different version.  These are reasons why many teachers don't take the time and energy to use multiple versions although most of us would love to.

This feature is an absolute must! We need to be able to give multiple versions to prevent cheating. We MUST be able to provided data on how our students are preforming. Get er done! Partner up with ExamView? They already have it

Joshua: Your suggestions have given me some food for thought.  We're working on a big redesign which will include Android and iPhone.  I'll take a stab at designing a UI for this.

Brain: I hear ya.  Examview has content so that makes it clearer as to how to do it.  If we could get access to the Examview content, that would be amazing! But it's proprietary.  Band-Aid solution: you can create two exams.

Evam view does it by having a key ID spot to bubble it, that way you make keys A,B,C etc.  Would it be possible for GC to do something like that, that is a Key ID that would do this.  We as users, would have to make up the answer keys, but that is doable...

Or Perhaps it would be possible to just change the exam by having the same order of questions but starting at a separate point in the exam. For example if exam version A is the master you could simply input that question 1 on exam B is the same as question 21 on Exam A. Then the system could extrapolate all the other question correlations based on that info as long as the questions maintained the same order.
