Moving Students into a different class

Is there a way to move students from one class into another class? I have students that have changed schedules and instead of seeing me third period I have them in my first period class. Can they just be moved without losing data, or do I have to remove them from one class and add them to another?

Hi Kristen,

The scans are in the old class. If you go to that classes scan, you will see the scans in red with a red exclamation point.  Check the box in front of that student's name > Move > choose to move the scores to the new class.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.

Thank you,
~Donna

Hi Lauren,
At this time there is not a way to move the students active scans. You will not lose any data when you delete and add students to classes. You will see the data under Reports > Students or Reports > Assignments.

I deleted a student and added them to a different class, now all of their assessment data is gone.

I'm so upset.  I just did the same as Kristen Morin.  I have no way to retrieve all that assessment data that I just lost.

Gradecam!  I pay $15 a month for the privilege of using this service.  I love it because it eliminates a lot of wasted time grading.  I love the available data.  I can easily ascertain which standards are the biggest struggle for my students.

But there are so many little frustrations.  There should be a way to move students from class to class.

Hi April,

Did you add the student to another class?  You will see their scans in the old assignments with the old classes in red. Please share with me which student and which class you are missing.

Thank you,

Hi Kristen,

Which student did you move? You are able to move the scans from the old class to the new class now. The original post was back in 2015 which at the time, we did not have that ability.

Donna,

The past scans do not come up under the student's information.  I see that they scanned those past assessments, but there is a dash where the grade should be.

Do I have to open each assignment individually and click "move" to get each scan over to the new class?

Is there a private way to contact you?  I don't want to post student names publicly.

Sure - please email to support@gradecam.com

Yes, you will need to go into each assignment and check the box in front of the student's scan from the old roster in that assignment > Move > choose the new class.

I can do that.

It's going to take me a really long time to transfer those scans for everything assignment I've scored thus far.  It would be nice if GradeCam would just allow us to switch the class name.

I understand but not all want to change the scans as they may not want the scans in another class.  It would seem logical but GradeCam has scanned that student in that class for that assignment so switching the data becomes a little more complicated. At this time, scans will need to be moved one at a time.

I can add this as a request for our team to discuss for future additions to our software.

Thank you,

Hi Donna,

I have the same question as everyone else here- I had two students switch classes and am trying to move them into their appropriate classes on Gradecam. Is there an updated way to do that? I tried the above method, but did not see a "Move" button, and am afraid of removing/re-adding and losing scans. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Love Gradecam, it's a huge help.

Thank you,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

Once you Remove and Add a student to the new class, then you will have the option to Move their scores to the new class period.
