Changing Verion 1 to Version A

Is there a way to change the titles of the versions to Version A or Version B etc?

Good morning, Laura,

At this time there is not a way to change the version from 1 to A. You will not want to make any changes to the form manually as any writing inside the form will cause issues with scanning.

Hi Donna,

Does this mean we cannot alter any part of the form, or just what's inside the square box?

Related to this, if a student jots a note or makes a stray mark somewhere on the answer sheet will that cause the grading to fail?

I appreciate any help on this. Has GradeCam produced any instructions on how to actually use the forms--rules we and the students need to follow? I have not been able to find that anywhere.

Thanks!

Good morning, Mark,

You will not want to alter the form - inside the box - in any way or if inserting into a custom form, not to stretch the PNG image in any way. We always encourage printing one form if doing a custom form and making sure that it will scan.

The student can make notes on the margins outside of the form. Many teachers use the margins for the students to show their work for their answers.

The forms do say not to mark in the formcode area at the bottom of the form.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for the rapid response Donna!

I did see that students should not mark in the lower quadrant that GradeCam uses to identify the key, but how robust is GradeCam against stray marks in the actual answer bubble area? I can tell students not to have any marks in there--I just need to know to do that.

Would it be okay, then, for me to alter the form *outside* the boxed area where the bubbles are? Specifically, I want to:

  1. Remove the "Version 1", "Version 2" from the header (it has always seemed to me that it defeats the purpose of having multiple versions if students can at a glance see who else has the same version they do...).
  2. Ask the students to write their name at the top (I hope to use this in my class of over 300, and I can guarantee with a class that size one or a few students will get their student ID wrong...so I would like a mechanism to know who they are and which answer sheet was which when I grade them later. Hopefully I'll be able to have each student scan their own form as they turn it in which would catch that but really trying to get an idea of what my various options are on the administration side!)

Hi Mark,

Yes, you are able to alter the form outside the box.

If you want to hide the versions the students are taking, you can white that out if you are printing specific versions for each student as the version is embedded in the form code.

The student will be able to write their name at the top of the form.
